Intense Butt Shaping – Lotte Berk High Round Assets

After originally purchasing the DVD, the author put it away for a year. Then after leaning of Lotte Berk's concepts and techniques, decided to give it another try. Below is her account of how this unique exercise method goes far to shape and lift a woman's derriere.

I purchased the Lotte Berk Method:High Round Assets DVD at Half Price Books. I had no clue what or who Lotte Berk was but the picture on the cover was incentive enough to purchase the DVD. As it turns out High Round Assets can be purchased alone or as part of a 4 disk set.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t blown away with High Round Assets (HRA) the first time I did it. I was in the middle of a high weight, low rep rotation at my local gym and didn’t ”get” the small pulses and movements. I think I may have turned the DVD off minutes in thinking it was fluff and a complete waste of time.

"The immediate results: burning rivaling that in the pits of hell!"

Anamaria Grabowski (above) at first didn't "get" High Round Assets, but after learning of Lotte Berk's concepts, and understanding results come from precise movements, became a regular user.

Lotte Berk Revisited, Putting in the Effort

Fast forward a year…I was reading an article and came across the name Lotte Berk. Aside from detailing a bit about Lotte, her life, her ideals and her method the article highlighted some of her moves and (perceived) results devotees had attained. Was a small, round, lifted ass in my future?

I decided to give HRA another shot. This time I decided to execute the moves with perfect form…as perfect as a non-ballerina can be. The immediate results: burning rivaling that in the pits of hell! I was instantly mad at myself for not having put the effort in the first time I did the DVD. Had I, I might be sitting on my high round asset typing this. Is that me crying over spilled milk? Yes.

The workout is broken down into a short warm-up segment where you march while lifting your legs as high as possible. Been there, done that.

The bulk of the workout is performed at a barre (or heavy piece of furniture or chair) and consists of small pulsing movements without rest between repetition. The moves are deceptively simple and the result is directly related to the amount of tension you exert on your own muscles. There are no special pieces of equipment or weights involved making this a great workout for someone with limited space or traveling. This segment is amazing and you really feel your seat muscles engaging with every pulse.

The Joy of Back Dancing

The standing part of the workout is followed by a “back dancing” segment. Back dancing consists of laying on the floor, knees bend and engaging the seat while tipping the pelvis up. The basic move is extremely easy to perform and the immediate result is an awareness of your seat and a resulting burn and fatigue in the muscles engaged. I enjoyed back dancing and especially appreciated the form tips and constant reminders given by the instructor.

The workout terminates with a “shape by stretch” segment. In my opinion this segment is too short and the stretches are basic garden variety.

The entire workout is 30 minutes and as the name suggests is devoted to the lower body, specifically the seat. There is a bonus workout on the DVD that is shorter in length. The instructor is clear in her speech and gives frequent form tips throughout the workout. This is especially important for spine and back health.

I would like to point out that High Round Assets is not a cardio, calorie burning workout. The weight bearing butt shaping moves are intense, enjoyable and effective.

My intention is to add HRA to my weekly rotation: 2 times per week. Hope springs eternal!

Lotte Berk, The Woman

As her name suggests, Lotte Berk is the creator of the Lotte Berk Method. Many “barre inspired” programs have been introduced since but hers remains the original.

I encourage you to research Lotte. She is a fascinating individual. Her method was used to “sculpt” many of yesteryear’s movie starts. Aside from promoting wellness and fitness her method was advanced beyond its time as she addressed human sexuality and exercises designed to assist in pelvic movement and tightness.
