Identify Your Target Market Before Creating Personal Training Information Products

How to Work Less (and make MORE Money) as a Personal Trainer - Part III

By: Ryan Lee

    Back to Part II

As I've talked about in the 2 previous articles, my favorite was to generate additional passive revenue is by creating information products.

Everything from CDs, DVDs, Books, Manuals, and Ebooks can be considered an information product. But before you get started creating your products, you must first determine who you will sell to.

Many fitness professionals who try and create their own products make the mistake of creating products first, then scratching their heads trying to figure out who to sell them to.

So before you even think of a topic or title or product, write down your target market. Try to get as specific as possible.

For example, let's imagine you are a soccer training pro and you have a dream to create a soccer training DVD series.

Soccer Camp
If you're passionate about creating a soccer DVD, be sure to be absolutely clear on who the buyer will be.

Here's the question for you: who will actually be buying your soccer training DVDs…

  • High School Soccer Athletes
  • College Soccer Athletes
  • Professional Soccer Athletes
  • Soccer Coaches (youth, pro, college)
  • Soccer Dads
  • Soccer Moms
  • Other Strength Coaches
  • Personal Trainers
Once you determine your target market, everything else will fall into place.
