"Everybody gets a thrill out of being mentioned and appreciated. "
Make Them Celebrities!
This might be the most sure-fire way to keep your clients attached to you while at the same time promoting your business without any extra effort whatsoever.
How? Turn them (and yourself) into local celebrities!
This is simpler that you might think. First, identify how many of your clients own their own businesses.
Local business owners are the key. Tell them you would like to thank them for being such loyal clients by spotlighting them. Have a picture taken of you and one of your clients. Write a small paragraph about how long that client has been coming to you, the referrals they gave you, a testimonial from them about how you've helped them and a plug for their business.
Now you can use that picture and paragraph in a few different ways. You can put it in your next newsletter. You then make two copies of it and enlarge it to the standard 8 1/2 x 11 size, frame it and hang it in your facility. Next you take the second copy, frame it and give it to your client with an actual hook and nail so they can hang it up in their business (giving them the hook and nail is important. Don't assume that just because you gave them the picture and the frame that they will automatically hang it up themselves). This now becomes a referral tool for both you and your clients!

Why does this work so well and how do you both benefit? Simple. Let's back up a bit and talk about something that everyone craves - recognition! Everyone wants to be recognized and appreciated. Clients usually respond better to recognition and appreciation than anything else. Even if it's just being mentioned in a your little newsletter, they love it. It often works better than discounting or rewards. Everybody gets a thrill out of being mentioned and appreciated.
And most businesses never hesitate to participate.
Now they're getting an endorsement about their business from you hanging in your studio along with it being sent to your entire list.
You're getting an endorsement from them by having that picture in their business.
It's a win/win for everyone.
Imagine if you did this with a local accountant, attorney, financial planner, real estate agent and doctor - you would have a referral tool in all those businesses plus the endorsement of that particular business owner. And what they say about you is far more credible than what you say about you.
On top of that, you're also cementing yourself as a reputable business owner by associating with other reputable local business owners. If you weren't good at what you do, then why would these other local business owners choose you as their fitness professional and have a picture of the both of you hanging in their office?
After you have accumulated a bunch of these, you can now print up a testimonial booklet to give to new clients and prospects or businesses that you want to do lunch and learns with titled something like: "Why 12 Local Business Owners Choose (your name) as Fitness Expert."
Very simple and very effective.
