June 2, 2004 Santa Monica, CA -- Members that want weight loss, won’t get there by exercise alone, they will have to alter their eating habits. There are many books on the bookshelf to choose from this summer.

Last year it was South Beach and this summer it could very well be the Hamptons. Noted physician turned author and staffer at the Atkins clinic has evolved the 2 previous diet plans of Atkins and Agatston and made a more sensible diet of good carbohydrates and fats, and of course proteins. The jury is still out as to the results it will bear, but at least is sounds more healthy.

Dr. Fred Pescatore, Former Associate Medical Director of the Atkins Clinic was recently at Pure Foods Low Carb Market in Santa Monica, California on a book signing tour touting the publication of The Hamptons Diet as purportedly an evolution of both the Atkins and South Beach Diets. He is also the author of Thin for Good: The One Low-Carb Diet That Will Finally Work for You which is now in paperback.

With recent appearances on the "Today Show" and NBC's "EXTRA" and worldwide press coverage fueling the buzz around this innovative new diet, the book quickly became the number two diet book at Amazon.com in only its second week of availability.

Not All Carbohydrates are Bad

There are good fats and bad fats; good carbohydrates and bad carbohydrates. Pescatore created The Hamptons Diet as an evolution of both the Atkins and South Beach Diets, incorporating approaches not included in the other 2 books. The Hamptons Diet is a unique melding of controlled carbohydrate intake with the widely accepted Mediterranean diet and builds on a platform of organic, minimally processed whole foods. In addition to weight loss, there is a focus on health and wellness and food quality.

The Hamptons Diet focuses on healthy carbohydrates coming from vegetables, whole grains and fruits while eliminating all refined carbohydrates. Further, it focuses on the healthiest fats with a predominance of monounsaturated fat as found in The Hampton Diet's flagship food, Macadamia Nut Oil.

Yoga at the Hamptons
With summer upon us, slender people may very well be giving up South Beach for the Hamptons given the acceleration of the latest diet book.
