December 23, 2003 Providence, RI -- International Fitness Club Network (IFCN), the country’s largest fitness club network, today announced it will administer a health club subsidy for Agere Systems, a leading semiconductor provider, at participating IFCN member clubs throughout the country. Health club memberships for Allentown, Pa.-based Agere Systems’ 3,900 U.S employees will be 80% company paid and 20% employee paid, provided the employee chooses an IFCN participating fitness center. Agere’s contribution will be applied towards a clubs most basic membership, which includes fitness. Agere employees will pay their share plus any upgrades or additional services they may want directly to the participating club that they select. “This new partnership is groundbreaking for the industry and will ultimately benefit IFCN member clubs by driving new members into these clubs,” says Dave Pickering, CEO of IFCN. “We are pleased to be working with Agere, a company that understands that fitness and wellness are key components in improving the health and well-being of its employee population.” According to the 2002 Health & Wellness Awareness & Attitudes Study by AAHON, roughly six in ten people with access to company health and wellness programs claim to participate. | |
