U.S.'s IFCN And UK's Incorpore Merge To Form 4,000 Health Club Network

(01/14/03) UK-based Incorpore merges with U.S.-based IFCN, enhances benefit for companies and insurance companies with geographically dispersed employees or members. The combined networks will connect 4,000 health clubs with a potential 35 million people worldwide.

January 14, 2003 Providence RI – International Fitness Club Network (IFCN) has formed a joint venture with Incorpore, the largest health club network based in England and serving all of the UK and Western Europe. David Pickering

IFCN was started in 1991 with the concept of providing corporations and insurance carriers a system of offering their employees and members the means to join participating health clubs from pre-established, pre-approved lists. In addition to providing overall employee/member wellness, the program substantially reduced workers’ compensation claims, absenteeism, and increased overall productivity.

This merger now vastly increases the capabilities to both corporations and health clubs. The combined network provides health and wellness benefits to some of the world’s largest corporations and insurance companies, serving an employee population of over 35 million people worldwide. As a key attraction, members are offered 'the lowest membership rate for the type of membership selected' at the clubs that participate in the network.

Their clients have been some of the largest corporations and health insurance carriers in the U.S. who have contracted with IFCN to provide a "one-stop solution" for the fitness and wellness needs of their employees/insureds/members.

Over 4,000 Clubs in Network

The joint venture solidifies IFCN’s position at the top of the health club network business, increasing the number of participating clubs to over 4,000. The new network will be known collectively as IFCN, bringing with it over 12 years of experience in the field of preventative health programming.

According to IFCN, 'Corporations that offer a wellness benefit to their dispersed population of employees have profited by reducing workers’ compensation claims and absenteeism, increasing productivity and ultimately experiencing a strong ROI that has repeatedly been documented to be over 300%'.

According to David Pickering, Founder and CEO of IFCN, “As corporations worldwide continue to consolidate and merge, there is an increasing demand to treat all employees equitably and aggressively attack rising healthcare costs, injury claims and absenteeism.” He went on to say, “Our joint venture with our sister company Incorpore, gives us a significant opportunity to better serve our current and future clients in the UK and Western Europe.”

Glenn Rankin, Managing Director of Incorpore says, “Incorpore are delighted to be able to expand the European component to the IFCN creating the world’s largest fitness club network. It is an exciting time for all participating network clubs who can expect to see an increase in corporate sales on both sides of the Atlantic.”
