June 11, 2002 Golden, CO -- HealtheTech, Inc., a Colorado-based company that develops and markets medical devices and software that measure and monitor important health parameters and Healthsouth, a U.S. provider of healthcare services, today announced an exclusive partnership that will bring innovative nutritional assessment tools to Healthsouth's facilities. Under this multi-year agreement, Healthsouth will purchase and utilize HealtheTech's health monitoring devices in their facilities. In addition, Healthsouth will be an exclusive reseller of BodyGem in certain defined markets in the U.S. as well as a service provider of resting metabolic rate measurements. Healthsouth also has the right to sell HealtheTech's software products. Under a related agreement, Healthsouth will incorporate HealtheTech's brand and products in pertinent television, print, in-house and Internet media and advertising. HealtheTech's health monitoring devices include the BodyGem and MedGem devices, both used to measure oxygen consumption to determine RMR, or how many calories an individual burns in a day at rest. RMR accounts for up to 75% of a healthy person's total metabolism. HealtheTech's software products include BalanceLog, a PC and Palm-based program that allows comprehensive nutrient analysis as well as food and exercise logging.
