Whether the economy is in an upswing or downswing, one thing is certain
you don't want to spend more money then you need to get personal training clients.
When finding money for your fitness marketing becomes tough, there are three proven ways to get more personal training clients without breaking the bank.
Tactic 1: The Four Experts System
This marketing system is really easy to pull off and the best part is you get qualified prospects in front of you. Here's how it works
First, find three other businesses that cater to your potential client. For example: a chiropractor, a cosmetic dentist and a med spa owner. Next, set a date, time and where the four of you will put on a two-hour free seminar.
Finally each of you will promote this free "four expert seminar" to your list of clients and prospects. The missions of these seminars are to expose you to the clients and prospect list of the other three experts. This is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get clients because they virtually come to you prequalified.
Tactic 2: The Online Video Funnel
YouTube is one of the best sources for driving traffic to your website. It's actually one of the most overlooked fitness marketing systems out there.
In addition to YouTube, there are dozens of other online video content providers that really work like magic to drive traffic. The problem, however, is finding the time to create and submit these videos to all the different video sites.
The solution is really simple
TubeMogul.com.
Before I tell you how TubeMogul works, I should tell you how to easily get videos with little to no effort. You probably have a favorite client or two who really trains hard and follows your directions well, right?
All you need to do now is ask them for permission to video tape you training them. Here's the best part
since you only need five to ten minutes of content, you can easily edit the video down to the best five to ten minutes.
Then you'll want to go to TubeMogul.com, create a free account and upload your video along with your key words that you want used to find your video. Then with one click of the mouse, TubeMogul will distribute your videos to dozens of online video providers like YouTube, Viddler, Yahoo Video, and many others.
And since search engines index video sharing sites, eventually your videos will show up for relevant searches on your Google, MSN search, and Yahoo.
Tactic 3: The Super Grocery Store Tour
Almost every personal trainer I know gets this wrong. This fitness marketing tactic is the single best system in my book. The problem with most grocery store tours is that the trainers fails to partner with the store and, therefore, gives the store no reason to invest in the success of the tour.
Here's the right way to do a grocery store tour. First, go to any health food store or grocery store like Trader Joe's and ask to speak with the manager. Next, ask the manager if he'd like to get more people to spend money in his store.
The obvious answer is yes. Here's what to do next. Let him know that you'd like to do a grocery store tour on a Saturday morning where you'll teach people about reading food labels and show them how shopping on the perimeter of the store is actually healthier, then you want give each attendee a ten dollar gift certificate to the store (which will obviously make the store money).

Grocery store tours can be an effective marketing tool for personal trainers, but you must work with the store to make the most of your efforts.

For the ten days building up to the tour, the store needs to pass out flyers to its customers at the checkout stand. The flyer will have a tear off portion at the bottom for name, email and phone number which the customer will fill out and leave at the store.
All you have to do is go into the store every couple of days and collect the tear sheets, call the people and confirm they will attend on the given Saturday and then ask them for a credit card where you will run $10 on to hold their spot. Let them know that they'll get the $10 back in the form of a gift certificate to that store when they attend.
Finally, on tour day make sure to wow everyone with your knowledge and then at eh end issue a ten dollar gift certificate to the store to each person who showed up and then offer everyone a free trial to your personal training program - this will give you the opportunity to close the sales.
When you're facing a recession sometime you need to get resourceful when you're out of resources. All three of these methods are low to no cost and have the potential to get you booked with paying clients pretty quickly.
