The Lotte Berk Method for Weight Loss
See Results in 20 Days

The Lotte Berk Method of exercise was developed more than 30 years ago by Lydia Bach, who simply improved upon a rehabilitation method used by Berk, a Jewish dancer. The Method incorporates strategies from yoga, stretching, dance and strength-training to transform the human body into an attractively long and sleek figure.
The Method
According to the Lotte Berk Method, "dieting to stay thin is difficult." The method maintains that the most effective way of burning calories is to do it passively, by adding lean muscle tone to your body. In fact, a body with healthy, toned muscles burns calories all day long, even when the body is at rest.
The method consists of four exercise videos, which should be rotated to allow for total body transformation. The "Basic Essentials" exercise video introduces the basic movements of the method, including warm-up stretches and targeted exercises for the thighs, abdominals and buttocks. The "Muscle Eats Fat" video walks you through a 30-minute session of targeted exercises to tone unused muscles, particularly those in the thighs and abdomen.
The method also offers two specialized 30-minute videos that target the abdominals and buttocks. "Hip Hugger Abs" begins by firming and toning the muscles directly under the bust, and then firming and toning all the way down to the lowest abdominal muscles. "High Round Assets" teaches proper pelvic positioning and fitness movements to firm the muscles of the buttocks, which helps raise the derriere.
Strategies
The Lotte Berk Pose is one of the most important strategies used by the method---keeping the hips tucked in, the abs held in tight and the chest pushed out. This pose is held throughout the entire workout; it makes the exercises more challenging, to increase the body's strength and flexibility. The method also uses light weights and a ballet barre, to incorporate ballet-type stretches and movements. If a barre is unavailable, the back of a dining chair may be used as a substitute.

To achieve successful weight loss on the Lotte Berk Method, aim to do at least four 30-minute workouts or two 60-minute workouts per week. The method claims that you will feel the results within 10 days, and see the results within 20 days.
